Susan's Story

Susan Oster Fish grew up in the West Valley and has spent decades working alongside students, educators, and community leaders to build a stronger, more equitable college district. Her deep roots in the community give her a firsthand understanding of what District 7 families need from their community college.

A Registered Nurse and longtime community advocate, together with her late husband who taught Chemistry at West Valley College for 26 years, Susan has seen how access to quality higher education can transform lives. She and her two daughters all attended West Valley College. Susan believes that West Valley Mission Community College District should be a place where every student — regardless of background or circumstance — has the support and resources to succeed.

Susan's commitment to fiscal responsibility has made her a careful steward of public resources, ensuring that every dollar invested in the college district delivers real results for students and the community. She consistently supports transparency, accountability, and a collaborative spirit to the board.

What Susan Stands For

Student-Centered Leadership

Every decision Susan makes on the board will start with one question: how does this serve our students?
